Kids in Comfort

When my first daughter Rebekah was born in 1991, I carried her everywhere but found my front carrier frustrating and fiddly to use. We moved to California while she was still very small where a friend introduced me to the SlingEasy. The SlingEasy seemed very comfortable and simple to use in comparison to the front carrier and it was recommended to me so much that I decided to try one for myself. It rapidly became indispensable - I found it to be particularly valuable during our many travels, when I needed an extra pair of hands and especially on occasions when a pushchair would have been difficult to use. Rebekah soon became attached to her little "mobile home" and was happy to be carried by me or her father, enjoying being up where the action was at our level.

With the birth of my second daughter Naomi in 1993 I really appreciated the SlingEasy. I had worried about my being able to cope with the new baby and her older sister - however the sling proved to be a great help. I could carry on with many activities while she lay in the sling, breastfeed her discreetly on the move which was especially useful while shopping, and tend to Rebekah's needs. Rebekah loved imitating me and carrying her own baby in a matching dolly sling (see photo right - Naomi, Rebekah and I with Tracy of Parenting Concepts).

In 1998 Samuel was born at 9lb 10oz. He loved being carried in the SlingEasy, which proved to be a real God-send in our hectic household. I continued to carry him until after his 3rd birthday. I still use my favourite sling whenever I get the chance (babysitting or at church or creche) and find it settles the most fractious baby.

I began my business importing the American slings shortly after our return to the UK in 1991. In 1995 I made the important step of bringing the manufacturing close to home. I signed an exclusive license in California for manufacturing in the UK and distribution of the SlingEasy throughout Europe. I obtained the essential patterns and techniques necessary to ensure that the sling would continue to be made to the unique award winning design. The SlingEasy has stood the test of nearly 20 years and thousands of sales worldwide.

My business continues to be a family concern with the same seamstresses working with me since 1995. Each SlingEasy is manufactured at home using industrial sewing machines. Attention to detail is important - every sling is inspected carefully before dispatch. I ensure that the sling is made only from high quality materials, the fabrics being 100% cotton. We source our exclusive fabrics only from UK suppliers. For ease of use and comfort the padding is the thickest of this type on the market today but still remains fully machine washable. You can even have a sling made with your own fabric for that truly unique sling, or to co-ordinate with a special outfit.
